Empowering Education with CPDT

This workshop series helps teachers create inclusive classrooms by welcoming different identities, building authentic relationships, and establishing strong routines. Participants will explore how personal identities shape interactions with students and families, develop strategies to counter bias, and practice active listening to strengthen connections. Teachers will also learn to implement intentional routines that promote a safe, predictable, and independent learning culture. Through hands-on practice, educators will gain skills to build trust and foster a positive atmosphere from the start of the year.

• Examine how identities and experiences may impact their relationships with students and families
• Plan how to introduce themselves to students and families at the start of the school year
• Practice active listening when engaged in conversations with students and families
• Implement classroom routines to create predictability and foster independence in the classroom

This workshop series equips teachers with essential strategies to promote high academic performance and support student learning. Participants will learn to create and analyze standards-aligned student work exemplars which communicate a clear vision for student success. They will explore techniques for checking student understanding both before and during independent practice. Through hands-on practice, educators will develop skills to assess understanding and offer immediate feedback to deepen learning and maintain high expectations.

• Create and use student work exemplars that show what students need to know and be able to do at each grade level
• Effectively check for whole group understanding before releasing students into independent practice
• Implement "Academic Monitoring": intentionally guiding and monitoring independent practice.
• Give real-time feedback to students while they are working independently

This workshop series helps educators create an engaging classroom environment that fosters deep learning. Participants will learn strategies such as wait time, turn-and-talks, and "Show Call", to promote active student participation, leverage student work for classroom discussion, and enhance critical thinking. Additionally, educators will gain skills in facilitating productive discourse by planning thoughtful questions and guiding constructive discussions.

• Use universal prompts to facilitate meaningful classroom discussions
